Westchester Events for ThanksgivingAlthough I post a weekly Westchester events calendar – the holidays are always special and the Thanksgiving Westchester calendar of events is no exception.  Here is a short list of events for this uniquely American Holiday.  A more generalized events calendar will be published later, but these events are unique to this holiday weekend and tend to sell out rather quickly.

New Rochelle Thanksgiving Day Parade –

New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Annual Thanksgiving Parade

Nov 20 @10 AM – Kicks off on North Ave & Eastchester Rd and will proceed South on North Ave to Main St.  There will be a viewing stand at Main St. & Memorial Highway.

Featuring The Historic Hudson Valley – Gateway to the Holiday Season

The Historic Hudson Valley is featuring three special events unique to the Thanksgiving weekend  called collectively the Gateway to the Holiday Season.

The hours and cost are the same for all three events:

Friday Nov. 26         10 AM- 4 PM
Saturday  Nov. 27       10 AM- 4 PM
Sunday Nov. 28         10 AM- 4 PM

For House Tours
Adults         $12
Seniors         $10
Children under 17 –  $6

Philipsburg Manor: – Sleepy Hollow NY
Enjoy Colonial games and an “interactive kid-centric house tour” as well as milling coopering, wheat threshing open-hearth cooking and much more.

Washington Irving’s Sunnyside – Tarrytown NY

The cottage is decorated for the holiday season in authentic period style.   Theme tours focussing historic traditions of the holidays. There are hands on workshops for children.

Van Cortlandt Manor – Croton-on-Hudson

The Manor will be fully decorated for the season with traditional period decorations.  There will be themed tours and hands -on  workshops for the children.

The Great Turkey Walk-Off

A post-feast hike to help get rid of those extra holiday pounds.

Shelby Lynne & Allison Moorer  “Side By Side”
