This is a classic pre-war colonial that has all the charm of a bygone era and all the modern upgrades of the 21st century. This home is fully modernized with a wonderful eat-in kitchen that has retained the classic “butlers pantry”. The formal living areas are bright and airy and have an amazing flow which is perfect for entertaining. The classic fireplace with mantel in the living room adds warmth and charm. Theres is also a sunroom right off the living room that is a perfect gathering spot all year long.
Upstairs there are four very large bedrooms including a master suite. The master has an adjacent nursery which can also be used as a cozy reading nook or even a small home office or dressing room depending on your needs. There is a Jack & Jill bathroom arrangement between two of the other bedrooms while the third has its own private bath. Also upstairs there is a bonus family/workout room that could also serve as an additional bedroom.
The outdoor space is the crowning jewel of this property. Private and beautifully landscaped, this space creates additional three-season living for those who enjoy the outdoors.
The town of Ossining is river town with its western boundary along the Hudson River. The town consists of two villages – the village of Ossining and a portion of the village of Briarcliff Manor (the remainder of which is located in the town of Mount Pleasant). The village of Ossining was ranked 8th in the list of top 10 places to live in NY by Movoto in 2014.
The town was originally purchase from the Sint Sinck Indians in 1685 by Frederick Philipse. A loyalist during the American Revolution, Philipse was forced to flee back to England and New York eventually confiscated the land in 1779. The town acquired its final name in 1881 having undergone several incarnations. The portion of Briarcliff Manor was incorporated into the town in the early 20th century.

Great Manhattan commute! Ossining is on the Hudson Line with roughly 20 peak-hour trains to and from Manhattan with roughly a 45 minute commute depending on the train.
Although agents are not supposed to discuss school rankings, I will take note of the science program in Ossining NY. Given the emphasis on STEM education, it is worth mentioning that Ossining High School has been consistently producing the largest number of semi-finalists for the national Intel Science Challenge year over year. This provides a unique opportunity for young people interested in several disciplines of science. I wrote a blog post about the number of Westchester students that had made it into the semi-finals of the Intel Science Challenge a few years ago. The winning streak has stood the test of time and is truly unique.
