It’s that time of year again when people are searching for fireworks and other festivities for the 4th of July. Here is a partial list of Independence Day celebrations for Westchester that are fun for the entire family.
The one caveat I have is this: There may be fees for some that I don’t know about, so if you are concerned about having to pay a parking or usage fee, please check first with the local municipality.
To put you in the right mood, here is a video slide show that I made of the Sleepy Hollow fireworks display – July 4, 2013: Have fun! Have a happy 4th of July!

The party begins at 7PM with the fireworks starting at 9:15PM. After the pyrotechnics, the Powderfinger will continue the celebrations into the night. Refreshments available in the food court. Bring your own chair or blanket and enjoy the fireworks along the water.

Rye – Playland 7/3/16 & 7/4/16
The Rye Playland pyrotechnics is another Independence Day staple for Westchester. As usual, they have two nights of fireworks scheduled at 9:30 PM. They also have fireworks displays every Friday night throughout the the summer. There is a parking fee of $15.
Mamaroneck – Harbor Island Park – 7/4/16
Fireworks display – July 4th at dusk – Harbor Island Park. Don’t forget the Mamaroneck Fire Department Carnival. The Carnival runs from Tuesday 6/28 – Tuesday 7/5 – activities begin at 7 PM every night.
Larchmont – Manor Park – 7/4/16
Larchmont has its 4th of July Races and Music in the Parks planned. There is a concert that starts at 7PM in Manor Park with the Dixie Dandies, followed by fireworks after dark. Tip: If you need to drive, be aware that its street parking and get there EARLY. Its a really nice display over the LI Sound. Fireworks are always so vivid over water.
New Rochelle – Five Islands Park 7/4/16
The Grucci fireworks will begin at 9:30 PM. Although they take place on Five Islands Park they can be from other locations along the waterfront as well including Hudson Park. The event is free and all are welcome.
Dobbs Ferry – Waterfront Park – 7/4/16
Activities start at 3PM with a DJ and music which will continue right up to the display that begins around 9 PM.
Irvington – Matthiessen Park (residents only) 7/4/16
You need a park pass to get in. Pyrotechnics begin at sunset.
Tarrytown – Pierson Park – 7/4/16
Fireworks begin at 9PM. If you need to drive, get there early!
Sleepy Hollow – Kingsland Point Park – 7/4/16
These fireworks begin at around 9PM from the Lighthouse in Kingsland Point Park.
BIG TIP: I’ve photographed these fireworks and they are great but I did so from the Riverwalk in Tarrytown (See the video above). This way I got to take in the Irvington fireworks from the south and the Nyack/New City fireworks from the west as well as the Sleepy Hollow display from the north. The Irvington and Nyack fireworks are earlier so you get three displays for the effort of attending one! Great for shutterbugs because the reflection on the water enhances the display.
Peekskill Riverfront Green Park 7/4/16
On the Hudson River Waterfront. Evening festivities begin at 7PM with music by Lost Soulz. Fireworks start at 9PM. Free but limited parking. Taking Metro North is a great option. If you drive, get there early.
